Go Back > Assess Bypass Valve

A 14-inch bypass valve for the turbine shutoff spherical valve failed and was unable to be closed. The ROV inspected the valve for wear by going to a depth of 800 feet and 800 feet into the tunnel. By visually looking inside the valve, we could see that the downstream valve seat was deflected so that the wedge could not close and seal.
