These inspections were performed for a customer in the Oil and Gas Industry who have a significant number of long distance, non-piggable processed water pipelines. These lines were non-piggable because they either had significant bends, were concrete lined, or had a change in diameter throughout the pipeline. For safety reasons, the lines were purged with nitrogen prior to inspection. Hibbard Inshore used a crawling ROV with the ability to go a distance of 7,500 linear feet to internally inspect each line. The video was taken continuously throughout the inspection, and the crawler was stopped at points of interest and at joints to document them closely. The benefit to the customer was that the unique long distance ability of the crawler system allowed for these inspections to be completed, and that had not possible previously through other methods.
